Cosme Felix Bugarin-Lawsuit Valladolid 1713

By gusmeza | 6:53 AM MST, Fri August 02, 2013

Aturo

I came across this archive (dated 1713) at the http://pares.mcu.es/ParesBusquedas/servlets/Control_servlet regarding what appears to be a lawsuit filed on behalf of a Cosme Felix Bugarin. By inserting his name there it appears in its entirety. (Archivo de la Real Chancillería de Valladolid, Título de la unidad: "Ejecutoria del pleito litigado por Cosme Félix Bugarín, vecino de la villa de Noya (La Coruña)")

What intrigues me is whether this could be the same Cosme Felix Bugarin who is the descendant of so many in group. He certainly could have lived during this time and would have been approximately in his 50's or 60's ( I have no definite information on his birth year). He would have however traveled to Mexico prior to this year. We know Cosme Felix's wife who he married in Zacatecas was from La Baiona, Galicia. The Cosme Felix in the archive is from la villa de Noya, located about an hour from La Baiona today.

The translation of the archive is challenging and beyond me. I really haven't figured out why it was filed.

I apologize if this finding is old news in the Forum.

Gus,

Study the document and see if it actually is the same person. It is not too rare to find people traveling from Europe to México several times, especially if they held positions "cargos". I have found at least 5 times that my ancestor José de Camino Trasgallo and his cousins Francisco y Manuel de Trasgallo Escorza travel, this case they were merchants from Cantabria at the end of the XIII and early XIX century. Let us know what you find.
