Bustamante, Cruz...

By Lupe Kerr | 4:02 PM MST, Tue October 16, 2007

I have read several postings, but I'm new to requesting help. The Bustamante line, from Aguascalientes is the root I am researching. Cruz Bustamante B. 4-26-1882 is my Great Great Grandfather. I am having trouble finding much more than his wife and two children. I understand a member has the film for this time and place. How and who do I contact for help? I'd appreciate any help from our Nuestros Ranchos. Thank you in advance. Lupe

Welcome Lupe

Lupe:

When you state that you understand that a member has the film for this time and place...

- If a member has a film and is willing to do lookups for other members, they will put their name next to the film information in the Films database, which you can access by clicking "FILMS" from the top menu of the Nuestros Ranchos site.

- If you are certain that your family line is from the city of Aguascalientes, it is probably worthwhile to order the relevant films for the time period, as you will probably want to take scans or printouts of the relevant documents yourself.

- Can you tell us the film number that you are looking for? If you do not know it, please go to http://www.familysearch.org and click on "Library" and then "Family History Library Catalog"

Another good place to start is with Mexican border crossing records. The index is available through Ancestry.com and you can access the images at many libraries that have institutional subscriptions to the service. The border crossing records will list the person's place of birth and their parents' names.

Social Security records also list the same information:
