Help with translation "campo santo ventilado"

I've run across this phrase in a record of burials in Mexico and I've never seen it before. "Campo Santo" of course is graveyard. But what does "ventilado" mean in this context? See image below. The phrase occurs repeatedly in this set of records. Thanks to all.

Jewish Origins of 3 Families from Jalisco

I thought this was an interesting video with regard to the Jewish Origins of 3 families who were originally from Spain and later migrated to Mexico. The Jewish origins of the Pacho, Alcocer, and Vera families, some of their decendants are later found in Jalisco. See video (18 minutes).

Interesting Baptism Name

Por LauraVilla107 | 4:22 PM MST, Jue Septiembre 14, 2023
Genealogy Research

This is a new one for me. Has anyone ever seen where a name that is traditionally a last name is actually made to be part of a 1st name? I found the baptism record for my 5th great grandfather. On most records he is listed as Juan Hernandez or Juan Antonio Hernandez. His parents were Cristobal Hernandez and Maria de la Encarnacion Vallin (or Ballin). On his baptism record his first name is listed as "Juan Jose Antonio Bautista". Bautista is not his last name. So his whle name at baptism would be Juan Jose Antonio Bautista Hernandez Vallin.

Attached is the document. Just wondered if anyone had thoughts on this? Maybe his name was inspired by someone somewhat notible/of important historic reference at the time?

Who is this Francisca de la Ascencion?

Por Don Animas | 10:07 PM MST, Sáb Septiembre 16, 2023
Genealogy Research

If I am reading it right, in Nochistlan, on 25 Feb 1686, it says Domingo Mejia is the padrino and the madrina is Francisca de la Ascencion su prima. I believe this Domingo Mejia is most likely the one who is the son of Lorenzo Mejia and Ines de Estrada. If it is, then does anyone know who this Francisca de la Ascencion is?

Origin of the Araiza y Medina family (one step closer)

Por ssales1984 | 12:51 PM MST, Lun Septiembre 04, 2023
Genealogy Research

Dear Members,

I received an email today from Michael Araiza, that spurred me to revisit the Araiza-Medina line.  He sent me the link to a marriage between Hernando de Arayze (yes, with an “e”) and María de Gusman in 1592, inquiring if it might fit the timeline for the marriage of Fernando de Araiza and María de Guzmán, parents of Juan de Araiza y Medina (d. 1665).  My answer is long, but the short answer, is yes, I do indeed think if fits the timeline.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939D-DXXC?i=304&wc=3P8Q-6TL%3A122652201%2C132529401%3Fcc%3D1615259&cc=1615259

The main problem with this document is that it took place in Mexico City, and we had not previously had any link of the Araizas to Mexico City.  So, I started doing some research.  PARES yielded nothing, sadly.  However, in familysearch and in my own document repository I found a couple things that may help make the connection.

Can anyone help with Nicolasa Carrillo de Sandi

Profile picture for user alvarez_bobby
Por alvarez_bobby | 11:36 AM MST, Dom Agosto 27, 2023
Genealogy Research

My maternal line has stopped with a woman named Nicolasa Carrillo de Sandi, married to Jose Juarez Delgadillo, my 9th great-grandparents. I don’t have an information on their births or marriage, my guess is that they are located in/around Cuquío, Jalisco.

I have arrived to her through my 8th great-grandmother Juana Gertrudis Juarez Carrillo, but I have little information for her.

I do have the marriage of Juana Gertrudis Juarez Carrillo, and Juan Manuel Delgado Pacheco (son of Francisco Delgado Lopez and Rosa Maria Pacheco Nuñez) on 5 June 1724, although much is lost to the large decay on the pages: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-F4YV-9?i=132

I want to continue with research into my maternal line, but in order to do that, I need to find more information on the life of Nicolasa Carrillo de Sandi. If anyone has information or familiarity of anything “Carrillo de Sandi”, or anyone who also has her in their tree, I would very much appreciate it!

New Member - Researching ancestors in Zacatecas

Por LauraVilla107 | 8:32 PM MST, Lun Agosto 21, 2023
Announcements and Events

Hello Everyone,

My name is Laura Villa and I am oringinally from Los Angeles County, California. My grandparents families come from Zacatecas. I have been working on gathering information, documents, and photos for over 15 years for our tree. I would be happy to share any information I have, and I would also love to connect with any relatives!

My grandfather was Manuel Jesus VILLA who spent most of his life in California. His parents were Margarito VILLA (born in 1881 in Juchipila son of Bruno Villa and Bernarda Perez) and his wife Maria ORTIZ (born in 1886 in Tabasco, Zac., daughter of Calixto Ortiz and Virginia Lara). Margarito and his wife moved back and forth between Mexico and California.

My grandmother was Soledad CASILLAS who was born in Nochistlan. Her parents were not married. They were Isidoro CASILLAS (born 1892 in Nochistlan, son of Severo Casillas Borroel and Daria Teran Tolentino) and Eusebia SOLIS (born 1895 in Tabasco, Zac., daughter or Bernabe Solis and Maximiana "Maxima" Rodriguez). Soledad immigrated to California, but her parents remained in Mexico.

Seeking any assistance or information on Pedro Jose Montellano or Son Jose Maria Montellano either from Zacatecas or Ojuelos Jalisco, I found information related to Los Pinos or Magueyes Zac. however very limited.

Information I found in Ojuelos Jalisco, Montellano is spelled as Monteyano or Montejano, which could be a typo or possibly how it was spelled during that era.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Panteón Francés de la Piedad wants reparations/compensation

Por jospuen | 5:58 AM MST, Jue Agosto 10, 2023
Genealogy Research

I believe I have found the resting place of one Francisco Campos Aguinaga. He died in 1915 after a mining accident in Southern Arizona a few years earlier. His civil death states he was put to rest at the Panteón Francés de la Piedad in Mexico City. (The other Panteon Frances was built in the 1940s.)

An acquaintance was able to get photos of the crypt and marker.  However the surname on the larger crypt is different. It is marked "Familia Casasola." The marker at the foot of the crypt, "164," is the only indicator, that helped to find Francisco's plot.  (I've included photos of the grave site.)

Other than the civil death record I have no other way to verify that this is our guy.

Now it gets interesting.

Trevino or Temiño that is the question!

Por Geist1 | 10:18 PM MST, Jue Julio 06, 2023
Genealogy Research

So I was doing my usual researchy thing online looking at struggle lines like Diego de Trevino when I happened up a few older research documents you guys find interesting to add to your stash.

The entomology of the name was fascinating to me so I decided to see what towns they were actually referencing in Spain. So indeed I looked up Temiño, Spain.  It is an fact a real town and that is indeed the way it is spelled. It is also the town where the references "Don Alfonso Ruiz de Temirio y Doña Sancha de Velasco".  Even in the old research docs the the spelling varies. These are the ancestors that Baltasar Temiño references to prove his noble lineage in Zacatecas.

Raymundo Muñoz Introduction

Por hijole1983 | 12:56 AM MST, Sáb Mayo 06, 2023
Announcements and Events

I wanted to introduce myself to the forum.  I'm Raymundo Muñoz from Brownsville, Texas.  I've been researching (since COVID lockdown) about my fathers paternal side of the family since i know very little from about them and am wanting to know more since that's the last name I carry.

A few things that I know about my grandfather is that he originated in Teocaltiche, Jalisco and then moved to Matamoros area (supposedly fleeing Jalisco for beating up the son of his boss) where he married my grandmother and then immigrated to Huntsville, Texas.  If you can see the attachment, it is confirmed (by my father) that his Pablo Muñoz and Virginia de Anda Quesada.  If anyone can help confirm that if I am in the right path and lastly if anyone has any information on Jose Maria Muñoz and his spouse Pascuala Gutierrez.

Thank you,

Raymundo

Buitrón Mujica from Celaya

Por chv.rvs | 6:38 PM MST, Dom Abril 16, 2023
Genealogy Research

Hi, I am fairly new to this forum so please excuse me if I do something wrong.

I have several ancestors from the Celaya area, and I am wondering if anyone has information about the parents of Pedro Buitrón Mujica AKA Pedro Vallejo born c.1700 in Celaya and married to Catarina Tena Padilla in 01/FEB/1736 in Celaya.
I am aware he is a "clandestine" son of Francisco Buitrón Mujica, and from the glances I was able to find as previews from "Los Tena de Celaya" by Rafael Nieto y Cortadellas, it looks like his mother might be Manuela Vallejo García (Daugther of Diego Vallejo Torres and Juana García Diosdado), but I haven't been able to find documentation to confirm this, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have read in "Retoños de España..." and in this forum that Mr. hfaizcorbe, you are and expert in the region so I would love to know if you have any information regarding this family.

Thank you in advance,

Salvador Rivas
